2U, Inc. Expands Membership Benefits with The We Company for Active Faculty in Online Graduate Programs and Short Courses

Nearly 2,000 faculty in 2U-powered programs and short courses will receive complimentary WeWork Global Access Membership

NEW YORK and LANHAM, Md., Feb. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- 2U, Inc. (Nasdaq: TWOU), a global leader in education technology, today announced an extension of its partnership with The We Company to offer enhanced benefits for active faculty in 2U-powered programs and for lead convenors in its short course portfolio. Starting immediately, active faculty will receive free Global Access Memberships to more than 425 WeWork locations across 100 cities and 27 countries worldwide. This announcement comes as a part of 2U's 2019 Global Partner Symposium, a three-day convening of nearly 250 university leaders across 2U's global partner network to discuss the future of work and learning, network with peers, and examine ways to deliver world-class digital education.

"Fostering great teaching and supporting faculty is core to delivering world-class digital education and eliminating the back row in higher education," 2U President of University Partnerships and Services Andrew Hermalyn said. "We're excited to provide active faculty in our portfolio with an array of WeWork Global Access benefits – access to desks and conference rooms for lesson planning, grading, or office hours as well as use of community spaces, WiFi, and printing – that will make teaching and engaging with students more convenient."

"2U shares our vision to create more opportunities for people to continuously learn and grow," WeWork President and Chief Financial Officer Artie Minson said. "At The We Company, we believe in being students of life, for life, and extending our strong partnership with 2U is a testament to this commitment. By opening WeWork locations around the world to both students and now faculty in 2U-powered programs, we're able to bring our two communities together to support those looking to change the world and their lives."

2U and The We Company launched Global Access Membership to WeWork locations for students across 2U-powered programs in July 2018. Since then, these students have taken advantage of the benefit across 272 WeWork locations in 23 countries and 79 cities, with a total of 24,000+ bookings to date (data reported as of February 1, 2019). The value, flexibility, and convenience of the Global Access Membership program has been clear from student feedback.

The new Global Access Membership benefit will roll out to all qualifying faculty by the end of February 2019. Today's announcement builds on 2U's commitment to delivering hybrid educational experiences for students and faculty in 2U-powered programs and short course convenors.
